CLAMPING ARM FOR CLAMPING WORKPIECES The invention relates to a clamping mandrel for clamping workpieces which are formed by rotation about an axis of rotation by means of a lathe (preferably a turning lathe), the clamping mandrel being designed as a rod-shaped shaft which exhibits rotational movements and moments forwards a clamped workpiece by inserting it into a central opening (for example a bore) provided on the workpiece. The mandrel according to the invention is primarily, but not exclusively, used for turning wooden workpieces, for example wooden mills such as spice mills, nutmeg mills, pepper mills and the like, and for example candle holders, tealight holders, bottle corks etc. At the present time, such workpieces are clamped on a lathe between tips on the headstock and tailstock or attached to one side of the headstock by means of a chuck (lathe chuck) and set in rotation. Especially in mills with a plug-in grinder, the upper and lower parts of the mill have to be turned separately, and it is difficult to manufacture the transition from the upper part to the lower part with a precise fit. Repeated reclamping of the workpieces is absolutely necessary and causes an imbalance that often results from this. In addition, the space around the workpiece when turning is limited and thus hinders easy machining of the workpiece. The use of commercially available mandrels is not possible when machining workpieces of the type mentioned, since they are not designed for such machining purposes. In addition, workpieces are typically fixed on the shaft of the mandrel using a nut or screw, by axially pressing them against a counter-holder in the form of a cone, cone, web, shoulder or the like, which can lead to deformation of the wooden workpiece. The present invention is therefore based on the object to provide a tool for manufacturing, in particular for turning workpieces of the type mentioned, which enables a safe, centered and easy clamping possibility of the workpieces to be machined. According to the invention the above object is achieved with the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the mandrel according to the invention are specified in the dependent claims. Thereafter, a mandrel of the type mentioned is characterized in that a substantially cylindrical ring made of an elastic material, preferably made of rubber, is provided on the shaft for inserting and later fixing the mandrel, which can be compressed by means of a pressure disc and causes the essentially cylindrical ring to change its diameter and press against the wall of the opening in order to reversibly fix the workpiece on the mandrel. After fixing the workpiece on the mandrel, the mandrel is clamped on the lathe in a chuck (with the longest possible jaws), so that the outside of the workpiece can be processed with a lot of space. Of course, the workpiece can also be fixed to the mandrel after the mandrel has been clamped on the lathe. In the exemplary production of a pepper mill, the upper part of the mill can be plugged onto the pre-turned lower part (bunging technology) and can thus be freely turned. The workpiece 2 is reversibly fixed on the mandrel. The thrust washer 5 preferably has approximately the same diameter as the shaft 1 of the mandrel. Figure 3 shows the mandrel as assembled in Figure 2. The ring 4 bulges outward due to the pressure of the thrust washer 5. Fig. 4 shows the mandrel in a further embodiment. In this embodiment, thorns 8 are provided on the outside of the thrust washer 5. This embodiment of the thrust washer 5 is used for clamping workpieces 2 with a cylindrical non-through opening 3, for example nutmeg mills or stem vases. As can be seen from Figure 5, an additional disc 5a is advantageously provided in front of the thrust washer 5, on which the mandrels 8 are spaced apart.
